Getdown Services

Getdown Services are Josh Law and Ben Sadler, childhood friends from Minehead, Somerset, now based in Bristol. Together they make sharp, groove-driven music that mixes post-punk, funk and social commentary with dry humour and astute observations of everyday life.

Their debut album Crisps introduced a sound rooted in rhythm, wit and working-class surrealism. Songs about modern Britain were set to arrangements that reflected both their humour and frustration. The album drew praise for its originality and set the tone for everything that has since followed.

Since then, Getdown Services have built a reputation as one of the most entertaining and distinctive live bands in the UK. Their second EP Your Medal’s In The Post (2024) received support from Rolling Stone UK, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Clash and BBC 6Music, and fan favourite Dog Dribble was playlisted by BBCMusic. The release was followed by a sold-out UK headline tour and a first European run in early 2025.

The following year brought Primordial Slot Machine, a six-track EP led by Eat Quiche, Sleep, Repeat. It saw the pair exploring themes of self-doubt and acceptance through their trademark mix of humour and pathos. Festival appearances at Glastonbury, Green Man, End of the Road, Wide Awake, The Great Escape and Live at Leeds drew huge crowds, alongside a live performance on the BBC. Off the back of these, the band’s two headline nights at London’s Electric Ballroom sold out almost immediately.

With consistent support from Rolling Stone UK, The Observer, DIY, So Young, The Line of Best Fit and BBC 6Music to name just a few, Getdown Services have become a fixture in the UK’s independent scene. Their approach – completely DIY and testament to both hard work and innate talent – continues to make them one of the most original and exciting voices in British music.
